Ph.D
in International Economic Law from Duke University School of Law.
He also obtained a LLM in Corporate Law Studies at Duke University
School of Law. Attorney at Law and Notary Public from the Universidad
Autónoma de Centroamérica. He obtained a certification
in Political Economics at the University of Bonn, Germany. Fulbright
Scholar holder (1989-1993) and Organization of American States Scholar
(1991-1992); Mellon Foundation Scholar (1990-1992).
He was the Ambassador of Costa Rica to the Organization of American
States (2002-2004), and during that time, he was Vice-president
of that organization. He was Minister of Tourism (2000-2002) and
Vice- Minister of Foreign Affairs of Costa Rica (1998-2000)
Dr. Niehaus B. was also the Vice-President of the Young Americas
Business Trust (2003-2004).
He is an arbitrator of the Commerce Chamber of Costa Rica, and
member of the Costa Rican Bar Association since 1992. He was a former
member of the Board of Directors of the Democracy Center in Costa
Rica. He is fluent in Spanish, English and German.
