He
obtained an LL.M in International Business Law at American University,
Washington D.C. (2004). He also has a Master’s Degree in Environmental
Law by the University For International Cooperation (2000). Attorney
at Law and Notary Public by the Universidad Autónoma de Centroamerica
(1997) and Bachelors Degree Summa Cum Laude in International Relations
at the same university (1991). He also obtained certificates by the
Latin American Center on Business Arbitration and the University For
International Cooperation on Legal Arbitration and Training and Certification
Program on Business Arbitration respectively (2002).
He worked as a Legal Assistant in the area of International Commercial
Law at Porter Wright Morris & Arthur in Washington D.C. (2003-
2004). In Costa Rica he worked as a Legal Counsel for Dole-Standard
Fruit Company of Costa Rica (1994-2002) and also served as a Legal
Environmental Advisor to the Company. His input in the Environmental
Law field contributed for Dole to obtain the ISO-1400 Certification.
Drafted and proposed legislation to be considered by Costa Rican officials
to promote free trade and to update relevant environmental regulations.
Costa Rican Banana Chamber representative before the Environmental
Protection Commission of the Association of Chambers (UCCAEP) and
Standard Fruit Company’s before the Environmental Commission
of the American Chamber of Commerce (Am-Cham). He is a member of the
Costa Rican Bar Association. He speaks Spanish and English.
